On January 3, 2014 at 8:20 am, there were about 300 people who are garment factory workers, land right activists, monks and NGO’s workers did the protest in front of Phnom Penh Municipal Court.
The protesters asked for releasing Mr. Vorn Pao who is the director of Independent Democracy of Informal Economic Association (IDEA) and other land right activists who have arrested during the demonstration at Jakjin Garment factory locating in Sangkat Kombol, Khan Porsenchey.
Protesters blocked the streets around the municipal court and they didn’t allow the court officers could get out or get in the court in response to legal action against workers, human right activists and union leaders. Also, there were about 300 government forces surrounding those protesters and keeping the security in case of possible violence.
