40th World Habitat Day Photo Gallery

This is a photo collection of the celebration of World Habitat Day in urban and rural communities on October 5, 2025. The celebration of this day was attended by more than 500 participants, including community members, youths, monk and local authorities from 8 different communities. These communities include the Satrey Klahan, Stoeung Kambot, Smor San, Chhma Aoet, Pongro Sen Chey, Andong Ta Eang, Lor Peang (Kampong Chhnang province), and Samaki Thmor Sor (Koh Kong province).

Key activities of the celebration included community clean-up efforts, religious ceremonies, and banner displays conveying various messages such as: Everyone has the right to live with development and safety, "Decent housing builds a better future," we all need and deserve the right to adequate housing, without adequate housing, there is no safety in living; society prospers when its people have decent housing; We need land titles to build proper homes; we all should have full and legal public documentation for community residents. Let’s work together to promote land and housing rights in Cambodia: "We need adequate housing". These messages were raised by the communities to raise awareness and to call on relevant stakeholders to seek solutions.

According to STT's recent paper, key challenges that communities in urban settlements have been facing are land tenure insecurity, eviction without proper compensation, waste management, inadequate housing and access to public service. As for the rural communities have also faced similar issues including the lose of livelihood and farmland.
